Join the Java Community in Cologne

JCON EUROPE 2023 is the in-person Java community conference in Germany organized by the Java User Group Oberpfalz in cooperation with JAVAPRO Magazine.  Java developers will be provided with a spectacular 100 % live conference open to the entire Java-User-Group communities.

The 7th JCON edition is presented as an in-person conference – again in a multiplex cinema so that you can watch code on the BIG screen. Come and see us at our booth, meet our CEO and some of our Solution Architects.

Bert Laverman, Senior Software Architect at AxonIQ will deliver the talk, Is it time already? Microservices are dead, long live microservices! He will be presenting on Wednesday, June 21 at 15:00 CEST in Cinema 9.

Abstract: Microservices architectures are firmly beyond "the peak of inflated expectations," but how about "the trough of disillusionment?" Also, given that it has "services" in its name, how about its relation to Service Oriented Architectures? Agile was dead but famously long-living (thanks uncle Dave), so can we find lessons there, given its dependence on DevOps?

In this talk, Bert will look at what is really important for modern software and why we probably are doing a lot of it right already, even if we don't realize it. But we also should be wary of the power of marketing, both for consultancy and for tooling. As a bonus, we'll take the advice of an AI: Not ChatGPT but rather AlphaGo!

We're looking forward to seeing you there!

Bert Laverman
Senior Software Architect and Developer at AxonIQ. From hands-on software development to academic research on software reusability. Bert is a strong proponent of good software design, Agile and Lean software development, and DevOps practices.
